Doncaster Rovers full-back James Maxwell has joined Northampton Town on a two-year contract.

The 24-year-old left-back was released by Doncaster Rovers at the end of last season. He will become the Cobblers' third signing of the summer when he officially completes his move on 1 July.

Maxwell began his career with Rangers and joined Doncaster Rovers for the start of the 2022-23 season. He made more than 100 appearances, scored four goals, and helped the club win the League Two title in 2024-25.
