Grant McCann is expected to make two changes to his Doncaster Rovers side for this weekend's League One trip to AFC Wimbledon. The predicted lineup follows a 3-2 home defeat to Plymouth Argyle last weekend, a result that leaves Rovers 24th in the table with just three points from six games.
Recent struggles continue
Doncaster are seeking their first league win of the season, having lost three and drawn three of their opening matches. Their most recent outing was a 1-0 defeat at the hands of this weekend's opponents, AFC Wimbledon, just two days ago. Myles Hippolyte scored the only goal of that game in the 43rd minute.
January memories provide hope
The last meeting between these sides at Plough Lane, however, provides a more positive memory for Rovers. In January, Owen Bailey scored a 99th-minute winner to secure a 1-0 victory. That result was Doncaster's first ever Football League win at AFC Wimbledon's ground and came at a time when they were also in the relegation places.
Manager Grant McCann will be hoping for a similar boost now, as his team looks to climb away from the bottom of the standings. The club's current position and goal difference of minus three can be seen on the standings page. "We know what's required," McCann told the Doncaster Free Press ahead of the game.
After the trip to Wimbledon, Doncaster's next assignment is an away match against Peterborough United on September 19.
