Doncaster Rovers have released their financial results for the year of their return to League One, posting losses of £3.2m as the club sought progress back up the Football League. In 2024/25, Rovers won the League Two championship for a joint record fourth time and secured promotion back to League One. Trading losses of £3.2m were recorded prior to post balance sheet adjustments, which the club said matched the ambitions of chairman Terry Bramall and Club Doncaster to move the club back up the Football League. This was despite turnover for the year increasing by £1m, with year-on-year turnover gains including 32 per cent from Club Doncaster, 18 per cent from ticketing, 17 per cent from prize money, and 8 per cent from commercial partnerships. Shaun Lockwood, chief commercial officer at Doncaster Rovers, said the club was able to grow ticketing revenues to levels not seen at the club since the Championship. Lockwood attributed this growth to the club's family excellence campaign, which has supported children and young adults with reduced price season memberships. The club now has a waiting list for season memberships in the South Stand. Finance director Matt Evans added that planned increases to the playing budget plus legislation changes around national insurance and business rates increased expenditure by more than £1.5m last year. Stadium running costs continue to increase through utilities and both planned and unplanned repairs and maintenance as the stadium starts to age. The club's 100Club business programme has surpassed 100 partners for the first time since it was formed a decade ago, with the adoption of LED digital perimeter boards for next season expected to assist in targeting 150 partners. Doncaster Rovers's commercial revenues have continued to increase, with the club looking forward to the new season. The club's financial results reflect the ambitions of the chairman and Club Doncaster to move the club back up the Football League. Doncaster Rovers's return to League One is a significant step forward for the club, with the financial results providing a solid foundation for future growth. The club's focus on family excellence and commercial partnerships has paid off, with ticketing revenues reaching new heights. As the club looks to the future, it is clear that the financial results will play a significant part in shaping the club's strategy.
