Doncaster Rovers suffered a 2-0 loss to Wolves in their penultimate friendly match at Club Doncaster Sports Village. Manager Grant McCann was largely pleased with the team's performance, praising their structure and organisation. However, two late goals conceded in the final ten minutes, one from a mistake at the back and the other from a penalty, ultimately sealed the defeat.
McCann reflected on the match, saying: "I was delighted with the performance for 80-odd minutes. I was really pleased with the structure of the team and the organisation. Their goals are two moments that we'll learn from. We try and play out when it's probably not on to play out. Tommy Simkin missed the press quite a bit in the first half. For the first goal, we play a risky ball and it goes back to young Kasper Williams and he just slices it as he goes. So that was the first one."
The manager also discussed the injuries sustained by senior players, including Robbie Gotts, who will be out for a few weeks with a strain. McCann confirmed that Alfie May and Matty Pearson were also absent due to injury, but are expected to be fit for the start of the season.
Doncaster Rovers are currently 14th in League One, 43 points behind leaders Lincoln, with 50 goals scored and 69 conceded this season.
