Doncaster Rovers midfielder Charlie Crew has been sent out on loan to Walsall for the season, in a bid to gain more experience in League Two. Crew, a full Wales international, had previously spent time on loan with the South Yorkshire club, making 24 appearances but struggling to get regular football due to international commitments.
Crew, who is just 20 years old, had been part of Leeds United's touring squad to the United States but has now been loaned out to Walsall for the season. He made just five starts for Doncaster Rovers in League One last season, before being sent back midway through the campaign.
Why it matters for Doncaster Rovers
The loan move is a significant development for Doncaster Rovers, who are looking to strengthen their midfield options. Crew's departure will give the club the opportunity to bring in new talent and give young players a chance to break into the first team.
The Saddlers finished 13th in League Two last season, and Crew will be looking to help the club improve their league position this time around. With a strong squad and a good balance of youth and experience, Walsall will be hoping to push for promotion this season.
