Billy Sharp has agreed to join N5 FC in the Baller League. The former Rovers striker will be managed by ex-Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann in the German six-a-side competition.

Sharp left Doncaster on a free transfer at the end of last season after scoring nine goals in 43 league appearances during his fourth and final spell at the club. He has been without a club since the summer but is eager to continue playing. "I want to play on," Sharp said. "I'm a free agent and I want to play football. I love football."

Sharp's goal milestone and final game

He is just one goal short of reaching 300 in his career, a landmark he nearly achieved with a hat-trick in his final game for Rovers against Peterborough United. Doncaster's current campaign sees them 21st in League One with six points from seven games, a context Sharp departed from.

Family focus and future plans

The striker has emphasised that his next move must suit his family after years of relocation for his career. "If something's there that's right for me and my family, that's the thing," Sharp explained. "My family's moved away with me an awful lot." He reflected on his brief spell with LA Galaxy, stating he does not regret the move to America.

Sharp's new team, N5 FC, will play matches on Monday evenings under the Baller League's 'Gamechanger' rules, which allow tactical changes in the final three minutes of each half. Doncaster Rovers, meanwhile, prepare for a home match against Burton Albion this weekend as they look to climb from their current position in the standings.
